One of Prince William County’s most beautiful parks, River Mill Park is located at the north end of the historic city of Occoquan. The one-acre park has a paved walking track, an open stage, benches, and lawn area.
In the old town of Occoquan, Virginia, there is a charming park called River Mill Park.
The park’s beautiful views of the Occoquan River are its best part. Upstream, you can see a dam and rapids, and downstream, you can see a nice footbridge.

Popular location for family and couple photography is next to a cute LOVE sign in the park. A local artist and Zentangle instructor from the close-by Workhouse Arts Center produced the LOVE piece.
Occoquan River Footbridge
The footbridge that crosses the Occoquan River at the northern end of Mill Street is one of Occoquan’s most picturesque locations. At this site, older bridges were replaced by the charming Nathaniel Ellicott Bridge. The original bridge, constructed in the 1700s, connected the East Coast’s principal traffic route with downtown Occoquan. Later, here was where Route 123 crossed the river.
The footbridge is now a well-liked photo location and a fantastic area to see river activity, birds, and paddlers. The footbridge has a little waterfall at one end. For a lovely bridge to bridge hike that begins at the footbridge, scroll down.
Mill House Museum
Visit the Mill House Museum to learn about Occoquan’s past (413 Mill St). The modest museum, which is housed in a portion of the town’s old mill, has an interesting collection of relics and images from the town’s early days. The Occoquan Mill House Museum is open every day from 11:00 to 4:00 and is free to enter.
Mamie Davis Park
The adorable gazebo at Mamie Davis Park is one of Occoquan, Virginia’s most popular photo ops. Couples, families, prom-goers, and brides will frequently be seen here taking the ideal picture. The little park is a wonderful place to have a picnic because it contains a few benches and some grass.
To access a picnic spot on the town’s riverside promenade, proceed past the bandstand and toward the river. A large sycamore offers a shaded area where you may unwind and eat some local takeout.
Occoquan Riverwalk
From the Riverside Shops building to the conclusion of the Gaslight Landing complex, a small wooden path runs beside the river. From the promenade, visitors may take in stunning vistas of the Occoquan River, have a picnic, or simply relax in the sun. The riverwalk in Occoquan, Virginia, is a good place to observe water birds including mallards, cormorants, and gulls. The town itself is a bird sanctuary.
